Anna Bassols Texidò

bassolsAnna Bassols TexidòPhD, graduated in Pharmacy and holds a PhD in Biochemistry. She is a professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB, Spain), and the Head of the PhD Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the same University.

Her main interest lies in the relationship between stress and inflammation. In particular, she applies proteomic techniques to detect the effects of stressors, such as transport, or farm management procedures, on immunity of ruminants and pigs, aiming to identify and measure molecular biomarkers of welfare. Other fields of studies include acute phase proteins as markers on inflammation, and the impact of extracellular matrix in immunity and cancer. Recently, she has been involved in the study of the impact of stress in the central nervous system in pigs.

She is the author of 74 papers and has directed 14 Doctoral Thesis.
