Francesca Tessore was born in Milano, Italy, on February 21st 1973. She received her Bachelor degree in Industrial Chemistry (May 1998), discussing a Thesis on the “Synthesis of chiral 1,2-diamines and their use in the preparation of chiral amino carbene complexes” (Supervisor: Prof. Stefano Maiorana).
In 2001 she completed her Ph.D. degree in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Milano, working on the “Optical properties of inorganic and organometallic coordination compounds” (Supervisor: Prof. Renato Ugo).
From April to October 2002 she was a scholarship student of the Consorzio Interuniversitario Nazionale per la Scienza e la Tecnologia dei Materiali (INSTM). During this period she continued the investigation started during the Ph.D.
From November 2002 to January 2005 she was postdoctoral fellow at the University of Milano, while from January 2005 to November 2006 technician for the research centre CIMaINa (Centro Interdisciplinare Materiali e Interfacce Nanostrutturati).
Since November 2006 she is Researcher in General and Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Milano.
Her research interests, strictly correlated to the ones promoted by the SmartMatLab Centre, cover: 1) the design, synthesis and characterization of new organometallic and coordination compounds featuring second and third order NLO properties, both in solution and in the bulk; 2) the design, synthesis and characterization of new photosensitizers, principally based on a porphyrinic architecture, for third generation photoelectrichemical solar cells.
She is currently collaborating with national and international research groups (Prof. A. Abbotto, Università di Milano-Bicocca; dr. F. De Angelis, CNR-ISTM Perugia; Prof. C. A. Bignozzi e dott. S. Caramori, Università di Ferrara; Prof. P. Deplano, Università di Cagliari; Dr. M. Manca, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, Lecce; dr. N. Robertson, University of Edinburgh).
Supervisor of various degree Thesis for the Department of Chemistry students, she is author of 29 papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals, 1 book chapter, 1 patent on the synthesis of push-pull porphyrinic dyes for third generation solar cells and more than 35 contributions at national and international scientific meetings.
