Expertise: organic and polymeric synthesis
Elisabetta Ranucci received her doctor degree in Chemistry at the University of Pisa in 1983 and became Assistant Professor at the University of Brescia in 1986. In 1998 she moved to the Kunglig Tekniska Högskolan (KTH), Department of Polymer Technology, in Stockholm, where she spent a three years period as visiting professor. During this time she was appointed as Swedish “Docent” in Polymer Technology at KTH. In 2001 she was appointed as Associate Professor at the University of Milan, where she is serving as Full Professore since 2011. She lecture classes of industrial chemistry and polymer materials. From 2001 to 2011 she has been member of the teaching board of the Research Doctorate School in BIOmolecular Sciences at the University of Pisa and from 2004 to 2008 of the PhD School in Medical Nanotechnology of the University of Milan. She has been member of the PhD School of Industrial Chemistry since 2011. Elisabetta Ranucci’s expertise is in the field of polymer chemistry, more specifically of the synthesis of multifunctional polymers for special applications. Her research activity is mainly devoted to the investigation of new bioactive and biocompatible polymers for biomedical applications, ion exchange resins for the complexation of water pollutants and nanocomposites. She is co-author of more than 130 publications on international journals or reviews and of 10 international patents. Elisabetta Ranucci has participated both as partner and coordinator in different European collaborative projects, industrial projects, projects funded by the Lombardia region and Cariplo Foundation.
