DEPARTMENT
The Department of Organic and Industrial Chemistry was established in November 1984 by the fusion of the Institute of Organic Chemistry with the Institute of Industrial Chemistry, with the purpose to aggregate Professors and Researchers who operate in the field of Organic and Industrial Chemistry. The present staff of the Department consists of 8 full Professor, 9 associated professors, 13 researchers, and 18 members of the administrative and technical personell.
Many PhD students of the Doctorate School in Chemical Science and Technology work in the Department, together with post-docs, and junior researchers supported by research fellowships from private and public research institutes. In an average year, about 180 non-staff people are hosted in the laboratories of the Department: they include first- and second-level students in Chemical Science, Applied and Environmental Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Biology, and Natural Science.
Financial support for the research activity of the Department is provided by the University of Milano, the Ministry for Education and Research (MIUR), and the National Research Council (CNR). Consistent financial support comes also from Industries and private research institutions, and the European Community. The research activity carried out at the Department is an essential support to qualify the extensive teaching activity of the Department’s members.
