Materials and Nanostructures
A series of tetrafluoroacridines have been obtained and their reactivity investigated. On two derivatives, 1,2,3,4-tetrafluoro-9-hydroxy- and 1,3,4-trifluoro-2-bromo-9-hydroxy acridine,  Zn2+ complexes have been prepared and their optical characteristics show their potential use  for solid state emitting systems.

Life Science: Natural products and biologically relevant compounds
The distribution of of choline and phosphatidylcoline fluorescent derivatives has been studied in breast carcinoma cells. NBD-choline penetrates exclusively in tumour cells, enhancing their application with PET .
Tricyclic -lactams structures have been prepared, as possible -lactames inhibitors, following a few of alternative synthesis. At present we are trying to have the dipolarophilic part on the -lactam moiety, together with a precursor of a 1,3 dipole, such as nitrilimines, to obtain an intramolecular cycloaddition.        
We envisage the synthesis of 4,5,5 or 4,6,5 tricyclic structures.
